The annual international conference “MediCult: Cultural Mediation—Implications, Opportunities, Resources” aims, with each edition, to bring to the attention of professionals from cultural institutions in Romania and abroad current topics inspired by recent developments in the process of perceiving and interpreting heritage and museum spaces.
We invite specialists in the field to submit presentations addressing research topics such as:
– diversifying the museum’s message or the transition from monologue to polyphony
– emotional mapping of heritage or the memory of objects
– the participatory and sensitive museum
– accessibility policies in museums and cultural organizations.
The fifth edition will take place in a hybrid format on October 29 and 30, 2026, both at the Palace of Culture in Iași, in the REVIVE Multicultural Center—the “Hall of the Machines”—and online via Zoom.
We look forward to receiving your proposals for presentations by October 15, 2026, at coralia.costas@palatulculturii.ro. Please include “MediCult” in the subject line and attach an abstract of no more than 100 words, along with a brief narrative CV of the author.
Please also submit the texts of your papers for publication by November 15, 2026, so that they may be included in the Journal of Cultural Mediation, No. 5, 2026, published by the Palace of Culture Publishing House, part of the “Moldova” National Museum Complex in Iași.
Papers, written in Romanian, English, or French, must not exceed 15 A4 pages, including illustrations. The text must be formatted in Times New Roman, size 12, single-spaced. All papers must be accompanied by an abstract of 10 lines (100 words) each, in both Romanian and English.
The illustrations must not exceed 5 pages and must be submitted separately from the text, along with a brief explanation of each image.
